Mapesu Campsite

The Wilderness, unfiltered

The campsite is in the heart of the 12,500-hectare Mapesu Private Game Reserve, a place of natural beauty and unique sandstone formations dotted with baobab trees. Just 6km of gravel road takes you there, though it is more accessible with a 2×4 vehicle. The unfenced campsite gives you the added thrill of experiencing wildlife up close. Campsite visitors can opt to rent safari dome tents, and only 500 meters away lies the luxury Mapesu Wilderness Tented Camp, where you can use the pool, dining spaces, restaurant, and bar.

Discover this amazing location between the Tuli block in Botswana and northern Kruger Park (Pafuri Gate) and visit world-famous Mapungubwe National Park and the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ideal for bird watching, guided walks, and exploring, here you can still feel the pulse of ancient Africa.

No tent? No problem!
One of the best ways to connect with the African bush is to sleep under canvas. Mapesu offers 15 luxury senior safari dome tents for optional renting. Each tent has two extra length beds with linen and pillows, a canvas cabinet and a battery powered light. These 3m x 3m x 2.2m tents can comfortably accommodate two adults. Outside are two steel director chairs and two bundu basins under a canvas veranda.
