Mapesu Private Game Reserve’s Volunteer Programme is an enriching and unforgettable experience for people that truly desire an up-close and personal experience in the world of conservation.

Conservation is more than just a tourist safari. It is getting one’s hands dirty protecting the diverse flora and fauna of the region, absorbing all the senses of what this region has to offer with its sights, sounds and smells; its being enriched by the history of the past and knowing that one can make a tremendous difference for the future by learning and protecting the vast and irreplaceable ecosystem.

As a volunteer you will have adventures in all aspects of conservation from researching leopard population, to cheetah and elephant monitoring, to bird and ecological surveys, to analyzing game transects, possibly translocations and releases, to hands-on work projects of restoring fauna, to recording and evaluating data and to sustaining the habitat, to so much more.

We aim to provide our volunteers and students with a stepping stone into their careers whether it is conservation, IT or hospitality. Volunteering on Mapesu will not only provide an unforgettable experience in the wilds of Africa, but also give biological students the vital field experience for their future careers. We know that getting experience for your CV is vital so at the end of your stay you will receive a certificate of achievement along with a reference to take you through to your future careers.
