Bird Spotting
Grab your binoculars and join us on a guided birding adventure to discover some of Limpopo’s most remarkable birdlife. Whether you’re an experienced birder searching for a specific species or simply enjoy observing birds in their natural habitat, each excursion is tailored to your interests and experience level.
Depending on your target species, our knowledgeable guides will explore a variety of habitats across Mapungubwe National Park (both the eastern and western sections), Mapesu Private Game Reserve, Schroda Dam, and the San Maria Wetlands, maximising your chances of memorable sightings.
With 383 recorded bird species in Mapungubwe National Park and more than 433 species in the greater region, the area is a true birding paradise. Keep an eye out for sought-after species such as the elusive Pel’s fishing owl, the colourful broad-billed roller, and many other resident and migratory birds that make this region one of South Africa’s premier birdwatching destinations.
Our no-pets policy is in place to protect the wildlife that calls the reserve home, while also ensuring the safety and well-being of our guests, their animals, and the delicate natural ecosystem. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us preserve this unique wilderness experience for everyone.
